Design of a spray column for CO2 capture
Veselý, Filip ; Malý, Milan (referee) ; Cejpek, Ondřej (advisor)
This work deals with methods of CO2 separation from flue gases in energy industry and industrial processes in order to reduce CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. Bachelor thesis discusses the post-combustion CO2 capture using spray columns. After literature review of separation processes and experiments conducted before, advantages and disadvantages of separation processes are discussed. The following part of bachelor thesis is dedicated to the analysis of spray column components. At the end of this chapter the suitable components are chosen and designed. The main outcome of the work is a conceptual design of a spray column. Spray column is designed for research purposes at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in spray labs. In the design procedure main aim was devoted to suitable spray columns design for optical experiments. During the spray column design the space requirements of the laboratory and economic of the design need to be accounted.
Use of offsetting methods to reduce the impact of CO2 production
Chmelík, Ondřej ; Brummer, Vladimír (referee) ; Krišpín, Jan (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to assess the selected CCS and CCU methods as procedures for the capture and utilization of the greenhouse gas CO2. The thesis assesses the legislative conditions and opportunities that have led to the development of CCS and CCU. The analytical part of the thesis focuses on a simplified assessment of the selected methods in terms of their application in the Czech Republic.
Engineering solutions for mitigation of climate change - methods applicable at the source of greenhouse gases
Remeková, Valentína ; Jedelský, Jan (referee) ; Lízal, František (advisor)
This work aimed to produce a research study on the topic of engineering solutions designed to mitigate climate change and which are applicable at the source of greenhouse gases. The first part outlines the fundamental matters of climate change. The second part focuses on technologies CCS (Carbon capture and storage) which capture and sequester carbon dioxide and possible options for separating CO2 from flue gases. The third chapter describes technologies CCU (Carbon capture and utilization) that use captured carbon as a product for further use. The future of these technologies and other abatement methods are addressed in the following section. The financial aspects of solutions for climate change mitigation are discussed in chapter five. The last part summarizes the main advantages, disadvantages, findings, and limitations of research.
Assessment of CCS and CCU methods
Kroupa, Zdeněk ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
The thesis focuses on CCS and CCU technologies, which could find application in industry and other sectors in the future. These technologies are used to reduce CO2 emissions, mainly from point sources. This thesis provides a comprehensive overview and division of CCS and CCU technologies and points out negative effects of its installation. Part of the work is also a comparison of individual steps of technology, both from an energetic and financial point of view. The aim is to show a wide range of influences on the final price and a significant discrepancy in the results of some scientific works. At the same time, in some parts, you can find a detailed description of individual parts of the technology.
Optimization options for low-power microcontrollers
Dufek, Michal ; Mlýnek, Petr (referee) ; Fujdiak, Radek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is concerned with optimization options for microcontroller MSP430 using the program CCS. The introductory section contains description of symmetric and asymetric algorithms and their comparison. In another section there is description of AES algorithm and his operation modes. The practical part deals with optimization options of program CCS, there are also mentioned reached results of VUT and TI implementations and their comparison. In the end of practical part there is performed optimization code for implementation of VUT, which is focused to reduce cycles.
Converters controling
Nevoral, Jiří ; Steinbauer, Miloslav (referee) ; Fiala, Pavel (advisor)
Bachelor´s project is study of DSP microprocessor problems to converters controlling with asynchronous motors and execution of a project. Study includes information on quality single type processor, benefits and disadvantage whole solving. Of purpose is DSP converters control with DMC1500.
Balance sheet calculations for CCS technologies
Kotráš, Pavel ; Lisý, Martin (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This thesis deals with CCS technology. In the first part, the main greenhouse gas carbon dioxide is described. The second part focuses on the description of the CCS technology and possible methods of capturing carbon dioxide and other gases. The third part is devoted to the calculations for the application of CCS technology, specifically the high-temperature carbonate loop, to a real lignite-fired power plant. At the end of the thesis is the overall balance of the power plant, which includes a comparison with and without the use of CCS technology.
Automatic Text Recognition for Robots
Hartman, Zdeněk ; Materna, Zdeněk (referee) ; Španěl, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describe module design for text detection and recognition for use in robotic systems. To detect charters is used Stroke Width transform, which is applied on the input edge image. In the output image after Stroke Width transform are found connected components. For letter grouping into a words is used Hough transform, which is applied on the created binary image. This image contains points, which corresponding positions of found connected components. To recognize signs in detected areas is used Tesseract library. Before recognition detected areas are extracted and rotated into a horizontal position. This proposed detector can detect even rotated text.  Accuracy of detection of the text is 75% above the test set "informační tabule".
Methods and technologies for carbon dioxide capture in industrial plants
Rek, David ; Máša, Vítězslav (referee) ; Sukačová, Kateřina (advisor)
The rising level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has negative effects on life on our planet. Humanity is now dealing with the issue through multinational organizations which attempt to motivate the current industry to develop innovative solutions to increase the energy-efficiency while lowering the amount of produced emissions. The most affected are energy-intensive sectors of the industry, such as the ceramics industry. This diploma thesis is based on a thorough research conducted on scientific literature, mainly scientific articles. The theoretical part is to familiarize one with the issue of rising levels of carbon dioxide. Next, methods to capture, store and use the gas are presented. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on one such method – microalgal bioreactors. The practical past weighs the usability of microalgal bioreactors for the purpose of carbon dioxide emissions capture in a production company LASSELSBERGER, s.r.o. belonging to the ceramic industry. Tubular bioreactor with a volume of 2000 m3 would process 3,75 % of CO2 produced by the core production machine – spray drier, during this process 367,92 tons of microalgal biomass would be produced annually.
